At this festive time of year, the entire team at Essencional would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of our loyal subscribers. This year we may have been separated physically but we still feel your support, your energy and your enthusiasm coming to us virtually, encouraging us to bring you stories that inform, entertain and inspire.

We are committed to continue to shine a light on new concepts, companies and innovations that merit the attention of the niche fragrance and beauty community. This year our coverage of new business solutions, such as Odore and touchless sampling systems, as well as our investigation into the renaming of the oriental fragrance category are just a few examples of how we keep our subscribers up to date on industry developments.

Among our most read articles this year you will find our deep dive into education and training in which we profiled six schools and institutions which not only train the perfumers of tomorrow but also offer alternative career paths in the fragrance industry (Part 1 and Part 2). We took our readers into the perfume vault of the Osmothèque. Our candid conversations with brand founders, such as Ramon Monegal and the Morillas of Mizensir, plus our interviews with perfumers, including Ralf Schwieger and Christophe Laudamiel, have taken our readers into the creative process and vision driving these passionate individuals.

We have also been active in a series of events this year. Just this month our founder, Silvio Levi, participated in a webinar sponsored by WWD entitled Insights into Artistic Perfumery. Earlier in the year we participated in several discussions during the Esxence on Air virtual event in which we discussed key findings from our survey on Artistic Perfumery and the Pandemic as well as our learnings from web listening. Our advisor, Karen Marin, hosted conversations with local experts on how to be successful in the Middle East, the US, and the Chinese markets. Recently we were on site during the Tax Free World Show in Cannes where we were able at last to meet face to face with brands, partners and visitors (Part 1 and Part 2).

As we say goodbye to 2021, we look forward to the new year with great optimism. We have an exciting editorial plan for the coming year which will cover topics as diverse as the Italian Approach to Perfumery to a look behind the scenes at the Art and Olfaction awards. We will continue to share brand stories, to interview perfumers, brand founders and industry icons. And of course, we will be actively involved at Esxence the Art Perfumery event which will take place in Milan from 17 – 20 March 2022.
